Immunity strength has been at the forefront of most people’s minds over the past year. Heightened use of vitamin C and (safe) appointments with acupuncturists and herbalists in search of the most potent immune-boosting treatments and supplements abound. But let’s not forget that one of the most important steps is maintaining proper gut health with the help of probiotics. Aside from being an excellent mood booster (90 percent of serotonin receptors are in the gut), it’s also a skin aid (acne and eczema reductant). Adding probiotics to your supplement list is an optimal health no-brainer.
Kate Hudson knows the benefits of gut health—and has been touting them for years. Now, the actress is releasing a probiotic supplement of her own from InBloom, her plant-based, vegan, GMO-free wellness brand which launched last year. The Oscar-winning, Kundalini devotee mother of three is no stranger to wellness. “It was important to me to create something attainable and affordable for people, no matter where they are on their wellness journey,” she said. “To me, a probiotic felt like the most organic next step for our line to really round it out as a fully holistic regimen. I’ve been using probiotics as part of my supplement regimen for quite some time now. I’ve learned about the importance of gut health and how an imbalance in gut microbiota can contribute to a whole host of health problems. In addition to helping tip the balance back in favor of the good bacteria in the gut, probiotics help boost our immunity, which is something almost everyone is trying to do these days.” W connected with the Los Angeles native recently to discuss in detail her newest product extension—as well as her current regimen.
Have you always been health-conscious? At what point in your life did you make an effort to be aware of your health?
I like to think that I’ve always been health-conscious, and just have learned more about what that really means as I’ve gotten older and become a mom. A mantra that I love and constantly try to live by is “What’s on your mind is just as important as what’s on your plate” from Weight Watchers. That’s why I also make internal health a priority—whether that’s finding some alone time or connecting with friends—it’s important to cultivate a positive mindset as it is such a crucial part to staying healthy and happy.
We know there is scientific evidence that probiotics help with regulating our moods. You had a baby two years ago, and it does take some time for hormones to start balancing again. Did probiotics help you in any way in terms of mood and energy?
I think probiotics helped balance my whole body during pregnancy, including my hormones, mood, and vitality—but that’s only part of the story. I also know that using probiotics is really important while you’re breastfeeding. As mothers, we pass along healthy bacteria to our babies. This starts them off on the right track and lessens the likelihood of allergies, colic, and infections. I wanted to be as healthy possible to be able to pass that along to Rani, and probiotics help with that.
What do Kate Hudson, DJ Khaled and Kevin Smith have in common?
They’re all ambassadors for Weight Watchers.
“I’ve become an Ambassador for the WW family because it is the perfect community for people to live healthy their own way and I love sharing this knowledge with you all!” Hudson proclaimed on Instagram Sunday night.
The Oscar-nominated actress, who welcomed her third child, daughter Rani Rose, in October, also shared her Facetime call with Oprah Winfrey, who owns a stake in Weight Watchers and serves as an adviser and board member.
Winfrey welcomed her to Weight Watchers and asked why she wanted to get healthier right now.
“My ‘why’ is really my kids and family and longevity,” Hudson, 39, told her. “It’s really about the holistic approach to wellness.”
Oprah chimed in, “Absolutely. And fish tacos.”
But seriously, why would Hudson, who, let’s face it, looks more like an after photo than a before, join Weight Watchers? She actually explained her reasons in a Nov. 29 Instagram post, weeks before announcing her latest endorsement gig.
“MY GOAL: I will be shooting a film in the spring and I’m looking to shed 25lbs. I’d like to try new workouts and eat as healthy as I can,” she captioned a photo of herself in workout gear, two months after giving birth. “I wanna do all this and keep up milk production, raise my kids, work everyday, make time for my man, have girlfriend time and stay sane!”
Hudson continued, “I am on a mission right now to get back to my fighting weight… and my strong body/mind back,” adding, “I want to bring you in on some of this journey.”

Congratulations to Kate and her beautiful family!
Kate Hudson is a mom all over again.
The “Almost Famous” actress, 39, took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce she gave birth to a baby girl the previous day.
It’s Hudson’s first child with her boyfriend, musician Danny Fujikawa.
“She’s here,” Hudson captioned her post, in which she revealed the baby’s name: Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa.
“We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawa,” she explained in the slideshow. “Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honor.
“Everyone is doing well and happy as can be,” she added. “Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send ours right back.”
Hudson announced back in April that she and Fujikawa were expecting a little bundle of joy in an Instagram video in which she revealed the baby’s gender.
While it’s the first child for the couple, it’s the third for Hudson. She and rocker Matt Bellamy have a 7-year-old son named Bingham. She and ex-husband Chris Robinson, of the band Black Crowes, are also the parents of a 14-year-old son named Ryder.

Kate posted a new Instagram about her new collection of Fabletics for @mindup_hawnfoundation with her Mom, Goldie Hawn.
“These clothes are the go-to clothes of today,” says Goldie Hawn of her new collection for Fabletics, the fashion-forward fitness line created by her daughter Kate Hudson.
“[They] give you a sense of opportunity and a plan that ‘I am going to work out today.’ It’s a good mindset.” As the founder of MindUP, a nonprofit that benefits mental health initiatives for young people in schools, Hawn understands the importance of self-care and wellness. And it’s clear from their latest collaboration—the proceeds of which will go to Hawn’s charity—that mother and daughter have similar values.
“I just wanted to bring some insight into what my mom is doing and [use] our platform to share that,” says Hudson. According to her, the nine easy pieces in the collection were inspired by styles her mother loves and wears best, including an off-the-shoulder top and stylish jacket-and-trouser combinations. “She loves a wide-leg pant so we did a structured, wide-leg pant. I put it on the other day and even though I’m huge, it just turned out really great,” says Hudson, who is pregnant with her third child. “They reminded [me] of all [the pants] I wore in the 1990s. No one wore straight-leg. It was fun and brought me back to my dancing days.” Another must-have for Hawn? A zip-up black jacket style that pairs nicely with the relaxed flared pants in the collection. “It has a sense you could wear it out as well,” says Hawn, “it integrates into our lifestyle.”
There’s also a matching sports-bra-and-legging set covered in lotus-flower print, a motif that has special resonance for Hawn. “A lotus is really a symbol of wisdom,” says Hawn, “I have a connection to that particular flower; as it opens up so does your mind and your ability to be present.” Daughter Hudson agrees. “We live in an incredibly reactive time but part of what we’re forgetting, in order to connect properly, we need to be mindful of what we’re trying to get across,” she says. Now this mother and daughter are bridging their worlds with style.
